Hells Gate - Day 4

Hello Family,

Today we went down to Rotorua to see the geothermal reserve - Hells Gate. It was pretty exciting, some of the mud pools are so hot you would burn to a crisp if you fell in. There was also a mud volcano that just happened to spit while we were there. Sometimes the Maori tribe put pigs and other foods to cook in the thermal pools but not in the really hot ones. We did a tour and the guide talked to us about life as a warrior in the village and some of the scared ceremonies. We had lunch in the restaurant and I got to try sweet potato fritters - yummy! Aunty Katrina looked after me while Mummy, Shae and Aunty Maria took the long tour.
